The YMCA Newcomer Information Centre is hosting a one-of-a-kind program.

A series of 6 webinars that will focus on helping Newcomers improve their mental and physical well-being, as well as an opportunity to form connections with other participants. 

​

Through engaging and informative webinars delivered by field experts and through interactive activities, participants will get to learn about ways they can take care of their overall well-being.

Topics that will be covered include mindfulness, physical wellness, networking, self-care, managing anger, and more!

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Participants must be Permanent Residents, Protected Persons, individuals with an IRCC landing paper, or CUAET Pathways

  • Be a member of the BARANGAY CANADA NEWCOMER SETTLEMENT SERVICES 

  • Having a minimum of CLB Level 5 is recommended

Dissecting, Analyzing, and Managing Anger – Part 1

This interactive webinar will take participants deeper into discussions about the nature of anger, common myths about anger and anger styles often found in human behavior.

Dissecting, Analyzing, and Managing Anger – Part 2

In this session, participants will continue to learn more about the process of anger, common mistakes we make while communicating feelings and thoughts, and useful strategies to manage anger.

Importance of Healthy Eating for Mental Health 

What does it mean when we say “You are what you eat”? Join this webinar to learn more about the importance of diet and its impact on physical and mental health.

Introduction to Mindfulness

This session will introduce participants to the concept of mindfulness, its benefits, and how to practice it.

​

Building a Support Network

This workshop explores the critical role of a support network as a protective factor for you and your family and teaches you how to gain practical strategies to construct your support network using community services.

​

Practicing Self-Care

This webinar will discuss the components of self-care, as well as why it is essential for well-being. Special focus will be given to meditation for well-being.
